Like putty, it molds around contours for a secure grip. Museum wax dries to a hard, brilliant clear finish that strongly bonds without risk of slippage even on textured surfaces. However, its permanence also makes removal more challenging without proper heating. Museum wax works well for wood but can stain some surfaces. It is best used for permanently placing exhibits.
